FOR TEACHERS |
 |
PREPARING YOUR TEACHING PROGRAMME
Don't overlook the value of library resources when preparing
your teaching programme. Others have covered the topic before
you and there may be excellent resources available via
the library network, or under the Electronic
Resources section of this website. Resources which use
alternative media (eg video/DVD or computer-based learning)
may be especially valuable in maintaining student interest
and getting over the point effectively. Requests for additional
resources are always welcome. If you are recommending resources
to your students, don't forget to give the campus library
a copy of the list.
|
 |
ENRICHING YOUR DELIVERY
Consider a library class session to allow students to research
topics themselves. Excellent resources are available both
in print form and on the Internet. Students "learn by
doing", and tend to remember information they find out
for themselves. If notified in advance, librarians can give
the class an overview of the resources available in the topic
area. The Web
Links section of this website provides website recommendations
for study areas, and lists on more specific topics can be
compiled on request.

 |
IMPROVING STUDENT STUDY AND RESEARCH SKILLS
This website has materials which can help students to improve
their study and research
skills. Campus library staff can also give introductory research
skills training to your students.
Time spent in the library or learner support centre will
help your students develop and practice research skills, whether
they use online materials independently, or with the help
of librarians and tutorial support staff.
