North Coast Institute libraries provide library and information
services to TAFE NSW students and staff. Our library staff
assist with locating information resources to support TAFE
teaching and learning, and provide training in information
skills to empower independent learning. NCI libraries provide
a quiet place to study, and access to photocopiers, computers
and audiovisual equipment. A range of services are now also
available via the Internet - check the other
headings on this site.
Who can borrow
All currently enrolled TAFE NSW students, and all staff can
borrow in person from NCI Libraries, on presentation of their
TAFEcard.
Community members may join their local NCI library on payment
of a charge. Contact the library for the current charge and
conditions of borrowing.
Facilities
Typically NCI libraries have individual and group study facilities,
access to audiovisual equipment, coin or card-operated photocopiers
and student access computers.
Resources
Campus libraries contain a wide variety of resources including
books, periodicals, videos and other print and audiovisual
resources. The library catalogue lists resources at all
TAFE NSW libraries. It is available online.
NCI libraries subscribe to a range of electronic databases via
the Internet. There is also a range of E-Books
available online.
Reference services
Every library has qualified librarians who can
assist with information searches. Lengthy reference assistance
is only available to support TAFE teaching and learning; however
all library users are offered basic assistance in using the
resources on the library shelves.
Computers & Internet access
Computers in NCI libraries offer access to CD-ROMs,
the Internet, and software applications. Internet and application
software access is restricted to TAFE NSW students and staff.
