The website of the week is Mind Tools, www.mindtools.com/index.html. While some of the material on the site must be paid for, there are many free resources on skills that are helpful in the workforce. Some of these free resources are on leadership skills, problem solving, decision making, project management, practical creativity, time management, stress management, information skills, communication skills and memory improvement. You can subscribe to a free e-newsletter.
Whether you are teaching communication modules or if you are wanting to improve your own skills, Mind Tools is well worth a look.

Hello everybody,
As some of you know, I am a big fan of the game of Rugby League. So when this book arrived at the library last week, I was keen to read it and to make it our first Book of the Week for term 4.
The book is The two of me, written by Andrew “Joey” Johns, who has been described as one of the greatest players in the history of the game. At the beginning he explains that he suffers from bipolar disorder (also known as manic depression) and that he is deeply embarrassed by and ashamed of some of his past behaviours. One of his aims in writing his story is to encourage people who suffer from this mental illness to seek help. He loved playing football, but he hated the public recognition that came with sporting success.
We learn that Andrew is a voracious reader, that he appreciates art, loves to visit museums, is a good cook and that surfing brings him a lot of relaxation and enjoyment.
He tells the story of his life in a very readable, conversational style. The book also includes comments by team mates, coaches and other sportsmen.
Andrew’s prodigious talent and footballing feats are in stark contrast to his struggles to come to terms with his fame and his mental illness. He is a likeable, strongly family oriented and humble character and his book is well worth reading.

( 3 / 673 )Hello everyone,
I hope you find this site useful. It has some very good instructional videos on how to do a variety of things, such as how to play drums, how to transfer plants in the garden, cooking, animal care, mixing cocktails and lots more.
Best of all; unlike Youtube, you can access this site from campus computers.
It is called www.expertvillage.com

( 3 / 664 )Today marks the day when the new Library Structure comes into being. Yes, it’s been a long time, but it’s here at last. For Grafton, this means that we will have four staff members instead of two.
Our staff will be:
• Jill Enks, Team Leader Library Services
• Kerry Watson, Librarian (congratulations, Kerry! I was always confident that you’d get this position!)
• Danielle Xuereb, Library Technician (Danielle will commence duties on 10 November 2008)
• Cathy Ylias, Library Assistant (part time). Some of you will remember meeting Cathy a few weeks ago, when I took her on a tour of the campus.
While we await the arrival of Danielle, our friendly casual librarians Christine Davis and Richard Nichols will be filling in.
Grafton will now officially take over the running of the Maclean TAFE Library. Kerry or Jill will be travelling to Maclean on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and the Maclean TAFE Library will be open from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm on those days.
We also intend to be a greater presence at Trenayr and visit at least once a week.
