Yes, Book of the Week is back for another term. This week, our guest reviewer is Christina Wales from Tourism and Hospitality. Thanks, Christina - a great review!
It doesn’t get any better than sitting on the verandah with a cup of tea and reading a story or two from Andrew Dwyer’s Outback Recipes and stories from the campfire. His lively descriptive style brings the stories of Australian pioneers, explorers and rogues to life. Like to know the origins of the Jackie Howe blue singlet or the history of the Kidman Pastoral Company?, then this is the book for you. If anyone fancies making a movie the story of Captain Thunderbolt would be an absolute ripper. It’s got it all, lovable rogues romance, injustice and intrigue. Did Thunderbolt really die or ...!? Find out all this and lots more. Oh yes and by the way the pictures are stunning and the recipes are a tasty mix of Asian, gourmet and home style that can be cooked easily at home or on the campfire. For those who enjoy camp cooking lots of great tips are included. A ‘how to’ of packing food and drinks to avoid mishaps and maintain quality along with all you need to know about camp fire cooking makes this book a good ‘read’ and it would also make a perfect Australian present for overseas visitors.
I’m off to cook a batch of Anzac bikies and put the kettle on and read just one more story, the washing can wait.

( 3 / 649 )Hello everybody,
Semester 2 has begun and it promises to be a very busy time for the library.
During the vacation we completed a stocktake of Trenayr Resource Centre. Kerry and Jill also attended a two day NCI Librarians' meeting at Coffs Harbour, at which we learned some new features of Unicorn and some very interesting stuff about new technologies.
Jill went to Brisbane for the Kevin Hennah workshop on maximization of library space and display techniques. You can read more about this on www.kevinhennah.com.au/Library.htm
For the first three weeks of this term we will be helping out at Maclean TAFE Library. Kerry will be going to Maclean on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and Jill on Thursdays. Chris Davis will be helping us out at Grafton on those days.

Today Luke Watson has been working as a volunteer in the library. During the day he created this fine display entitled Cars.

( 3 / 653 )During the week beginning 16 June, Lauren Howson, a Year 10 student from Grafton High School, worked in the library. Lauren tried a variety of tasks such as shelving, cataloguing, processing new books, circulation and making a display. She worked very conscientiously and did her work very thoroughly. Lauren is a lovely young lady and we hope she now considers librarianship as a career option.
