The book of the week this week is the cleverly titled “Blubberland: the dangers of happiness”, written by Australian architecture expert and critic Elizabeth Farrelly. She asks why, given that we in the western world are richer and safer than ever before, we are also fatter, more fearful and more depressed than ever before. It is a witty book but it has a very serious theme – why do we consume so much and why can’t we stop assaulting nature?
