FIND MORE TIME FOR STUDY
PLAN YOUR TIME
DEAL WITH TIME MANAGEMENT DEMONS
Too much to do and too little time? Maybe
you need some strategies to manage your time better!
REMEMBER
YOUR GOALS
Reminding yourself why you are studying can
help you work more efficiently. Why are you studying? Which
options below describe your goals?
To get better qualifications for employment
To fill in time till something better comes along
To please your family
To improve your self-esteem
Because you enjoy learning
To prepare for further study
Which ones did you choose? If you are studying
because you really want to achieve your goals, you'll find
the workload easier to cope with.
KNOW
YOUR LEARNING STYLE
Different people have different styles of working. Knowing
your learning style and using this knowledge
to learn efficiently can help you complete your work
quicker.
Being aware of what time of day you work best is important
too. Are you a morning or an evening person? Try to
study at the time of day when you work most efficiently.
IDENTIFY
TIME AVAILABLE FOR STUDY
Download and print a study planner
(Microsoft Word 2000, 49Kb)
On the table you have printed, fill in what you did this
week.
Fill it in this way:
First, type in the things you did that were essential (eating,
sleeping, travelling, shopping etc).
Next, type in the things you did which give your study some
balance (leisure activities, time with family etc).
Any spaces left? This is time which would have been available
for study - was it used that way? Could you use it that way
in future?
If there wasn't enough time left for study,
should you review the time spent doing other things? Move
on to the next section for
some ideas.
